EHCP & Foundation Learners: User Guide with Placements

A step-by-step guide for EHCP and Foundation learners using Navigate with work placements, written for students and the staff who support them.

Logging in to Navigate

You can log in to Navigate on a smartphone, computer, laptop or tablet at login.navigate.uk.com.

The Navigate homepage

Your homepage remembers your name and welcomes you back. From here you can reach the key areas of your account:

  • My Targets - view and add activities.
  • My Timeline - see all of your activities in one place.
  • My Placements - manage your work placement.
  • My Skills - take a test and see your skills.

Use the accessibility button to make the screen just how you like it. Navigate remembers your settings for the next time you log in. From the homepage you can click to view your timeline or to add an activity.

Adding an activity

  1. Click to add an activity.
  2. Write what you did in the description box.
  3. Add photos or videos if you have them.
  4. Choose whether it goes towards any of your targets.
  5. Use the hints if you need some help.
  6. Click Save when you have finished.

Editing an activity

  1. Click the title of the activity you want to edit.
  2. Make any changes you need.
  3. Click Save when you have finished.

Your placements

Click into My Placements to manage your work placement. Complete the checklist at the start of your placement.

Confirming attendance

Confirm your attendance after each placement day:

  • Click I attended if you went to placement.
  • Click I didn't attend if you couldn't go to placement.

Writing your journal

  1. Write what you did in the description box.
  2. Add photos or videos if you have them.
  3. Choose whether it goes towards any of your targets.
  4. Use the hints if you need some help.
  5. Click Save when you have finished.

Adding a new placement date

If the placement day you attended is not listed, you can add a new date:

  1. Add the new date, along with when you started and finished.
  2. Click Save.
  3. The date will be added to the dates ready to confirm.
