Student Guide to Placements Students cannot directly add a placement without it being requested from them by staff first.
Step 1: Logging In to Navigate Using any device (smartphone, computer, laptop, or tablet), visit login.navigate.uk.com and log in using either the Google or Microsoft login
s option. Make sure to use your full college email for single sign-on.
Step 2: Navigate the Homepage
After logging in, you should see a personalised homepage greeting you (for example, 'Welcome back Ralph') along with sections like My Timeline (to see your activities), My Skills (to test your skills), My Placements (for managing work placements) and My Targets (to view and add activities).
Adjust the screen view as needed using the available button. Adding Your Placement details
1. Navigate to Placements: Click on "My Placements" on the homepage.
2. Click on 'See all'.
3. Find the requested placement: In the "My Placement details" section, click "ADD".
4. Placement Type: Specify the type of placement (e.g., in-person, virtual, or combined). If unsure, select "I am not sure" and describe it in the notes box.
5. Placement Description: Briefly describe the placement activity. Ensure your spelling and grammar are accurate, details are correct, and you include information about your role and agreed-upon activities. Click
"Proceed."
6. Employer Details: Search for your employer in the database. If not found, use the "can't find employer" link to add their full name and address. Click "Proceed"
7. Contact Details: Search for your employer contact. If not listed, use the "My contact isn't listed" link to add their name, email, and phone number. Click "Proceed".
8. Placement Dates & Times:
Select the start and end dates of your placement. If known, select the specific days of the week and the daily start/end times.
9. Support Information: Add any relevant medical, support, or health and safety information needed for planning your placement. This information will be shared with your placement employer. Click "Proceed".
10. Review and Submit: Carefully review all the information you've entered. If changes are needed, use the "Back" button. Click "Proceed" to submit your placement request.
11. Await Approval: Your placement status will show as "Pending" while awaiting approval. You'll be contacted if more details are required.
Preparing for Your Placement
1. Access Approved Placement: Once approved, go back to "My Placements". Your placement will show as "Active". 2. Pre-Placement Checklist: Before starting, complete the "Pre-Placement Checklist".
During Your Placement: Attendance & Journal
1. Confirm Attendance: After each placement day, go to "My Placements" and click "Add/Edit" under "Confirm attendance and complete Journal". 2. Mark Attendance: For past placement days requiring confirmation, click "I attended" if you were present, or "I didn't attend" if you were absent. 3. Write Journal Entry (if attended): * Enter the date and the time spent (hours and minutes). * Describe what happened during the day and how it helped develop your skills. * Optionally, add photo or video evidence. * If applicable, link the journal entry to any relevant
"Targets". * Click "Save".
Completing Your Placement
1. Submit Feedback: Provide your feedback on the placement by clicking "Complete" next to
"Your Feedback". 2. Mark as Complete: Click "Submit Placement as Complete".
