Students are able to submit details of self-found placements to you through Navigate. These placements require your approval before they become live (active).
To approve/reject placements submitted by students, follow the instructions below.
1. On the homepage of the Navigate staff site, you can see the number of student-submitted placements that require your approval under the 'Your Students Placements' panel.
2. Click on the circle 'Requiring your approval'. This will take you directly to the placement.
3. Click on the placement you would like to review from the grid.
4. This will open up the placement record where you can view the details of the placement, including:
- The student details
- The employer organisation address and contact details
- The placement details including planned/scheduled hours, location type, placement type, break times, placement description, and objectives.
- The placement dates and times.
You should review all the information provided by the student and make any necessary changes.
4. You will need to approve or reject the placement internally. You can do this from the 'pre-placement approval' panel on the top right of the placement record.
5. Click on the tab 'Approve/Reject placement'. This will bring up a pop-up box.
6. In the pop-up box, select the member of staff approving/rejecting the placement and the date of approval/rejection.
7. If you approve the placement, select 'Approve'. If you reject the placement, select 'Reject'.
Note: If you reject the placement, you will be asked to provide a reason for rejection as seen above. This will be communicated to the student on their Navigate student site. The student can view the reason for rejection, make any necessary changes, and resubmit the placement back to you for review:
Note: Approving the placement does not make the placement live (active). The employer must also approve the placement. This can be done automatically via an email that is sent out to employers from the platform. To find out more about the automatic email communication between Navigate and employers, click here.
