Create a Placement

Created by Chris Rowe, Modified on Fri, 13 Sep at 8:21 AM by Chris Rowe

1. Once you've logged in, click into the Placements module.

2. Click on Add Placement on the top right-hand corner of the page. This will bring you to an empty placement record

3. Under 'Student Details', type the first few letters of the student's name and select the correct student from the drop-down. You can add any relevant health and safety or medical notes, and any behavioural notes that you think the employer should be aware of.

4. Under 'Employer Details', type the first few letters of the organisation name and select the correct organisation from the drop-down menu. The organisation address and compliance status will be auto-filled.

5. In the 'Work Placement Manager' section, select the correct manager from the drop-down menu. These people will be existing contacts listed against this employer.

6. The three tick-boxes are important as it decides who receives the automatic emails. It default to send them to the work placement manager, but if the employer is not likely to have the time to be checking their emails, you can always send them to yourself instead and confirm the attendance on their behalf. We recommend copying yourself in so that you always have a back-up.

7. Under 'Placement Details', search for the placement co-ordinator. From here, you can:

  • Add in the planned hours
  • Select the placement type
  • Add in the dress code
  • Select the location type
  • Add any fundable travel time or non-fundable break time (eg: if the student will be taking a 30 minute break every day, Navigate will automatically remove 30 minutes from each scheduled day).
  • Add in the placement description and placement objectives
  • Schedule the dates and times. You can select the days you know the student is attending, and change the hours if necessary. In order for a placement to save, at least one day must be scheduled.

8. Once completed, scroll back up to the top and click Save.
