Employer Search Tool Video by edcocanva

1. Once you have logged in, click into the 'Employers' module.

2. Click into the Employer Search Tool bar at the top of the page.

3. You will then be introduced to the Employer Search Tool, which allows you to browse Companies House UK data to find new employers which you can add straight to your Navigate database. On this page, you can also download our Best Practice Quick Guide, which shares tips on the employer engagement process including:

- Understanding the employer's mindset

- How to frame your messaging

- How to use nudging in your messages (which will hopefully come in handy when you begin engaging with these new employer leads which you find through our search tool)

4. Once you have launched the tool, you are asked to provide the postcode and radius of the area in which you would like to find a new employer.

5. Next, you need to refine your search. You will be asked to select:

- Primary business sector (eg: construction)

- Secondary business sector (eg: construction of buildings)

- Business sector to include: (eg: construction of domestic buildings)

This will ensure that your search is as specific as possible and brings up relevant employers.

6. Your results will display all of the employers within your radius and relevant to your sector search. Click on 'More' to view the employer - you can sit with a student and help them to map their route from their house to the employer using the Google Maps functionality.

7. To view the employer's details further, click on 'View Employer Details'. From here, you can view details such as the name of the director, company status, date of incorporation and financial information.

8. To add the employer to your Navigate database, click on 'Add New Employer Record'. All of the data will be dragged through and populated into an Employer Record. The employer is now ready for you to begin adding placements against them and completing relevant health and safety checks.
